Strategic Consultation
Before the pandemic, I presented the Garda College Superintendent with a proposal to expand digital learning through greater use of the Learning Management System. The proposal demonstrated how pre-recorded lectures, virtual classrooms, self-paced eLearning and multimedia learning could improve learner engagement while significantly reducing long-term delivery costs.
Prior to the pandemic, widespread adoption of digital learning was expected to take several years.
When COVID-19 restrictions prevented classroom delivery, I worked closely with Garda College leadership to rapidly redesign the probationer training programme using a flipped classroom approach.
Responding to COVID-19
Learners completed pre-recorded lectures, digital learning resources and self-directed study before participating in instructor-led virtual workshops focused on discussion, collaboration and practical application.
Technology & Infrastructure
Virtual classroom delivery was entirely new for many instructors. To ensure a professional learner experience, I advised on the specification and implementation of advanced studio infrastructure. Rather than asking instructors to deliver sessions from home, the solution recreated a professional classroom environment within the Garda College.

While leading the SIS II programme, I also worked with the GISC to redesign specialist application training for approximately 300 personnel.
Using the newly developed flipped classroom methodology, we replaced classroom sessions with digital-first solutions. This allowed participants to access realistic training environments remotely while providing the additional benefits of flexible, self-paced learning.
